Sterilization in a dry ovenIn the world that surrounds us, there is an incredible amount of harmful bacteria and microorganisms.
Their vital activity can greatly harm the human body. Especially often, by the nature of their activities, medical workers and citizens who are being treated in hospitals and clinics are at risk. Therefore, the conditions of sterility in all medical institutions must be strictly observed. Sterilization is the complete destruction of all types of microorganisms and bacteria that can be both on the surface and inside the object being sterilized.

What is a dry-heat cabinet
The most ancient, but still not lost its popularity and distribution method of purification is the sterilization of objects with hot air (dry heat).
Hot dry air is able to have an effective virocidal, bactericidal and sporicidal effect. All items that have been in contact with wounds, have been contaminated with blood or injectable forms of drugs, as well as all medical instruments used, should be sterilized by dry heat. Disinfection in a dry-heat cabinet is one of the methods of general medical sterilization. Under the influence of hot temperature, 100 percent death of all bacterial cells, fungal species and viruses occurs. Death occurs as a result of combustion of these cells and spores or coagulation of protein compounds.

Sterilization in a dry ovenA dryer is an air sterilizer that cleans and dries medical supplies.
It is an electrical cabinet of a rectangular or round shape, in the chamber of which grids and trays are placed to place the necessary tools. All elements of modern dry ovens are made of high quality stainless steel. New models of cabinets have an electric display that helps to select the desired sterilization temperature, emergency protection programs, as well as a forced cooling system and the ability to connect to a PC. Modern ovens are portable and economical. Modes and performance of sterilization in a dry-heat cabinet

In accordance with the norms and the sterilization system, there are several basic cleaning modes in a dry-heat cabinet:

  • for metal products - within 60 minutes at a temperature of 180 degrees;
  • for dishes used in medical laboratories, other heat-resistant products and objects - for 150 minutes at a temperature of 100 - 160 degrees.

Sterilization in a dry ovenAlso, depending on the purpose of the object to be sterilized, there are some intermediate modes of sterilization.
A nurse or other responsible specialist who must carry out sterilization is guided by the operating instructions for the dry-heat cabinet and must strictly follow the points for the correct loading and unloading of the chamber. Sterilization of items can be carried out in packages made of special paper or kraft bags, or in special open containers. After sterilization in an open way, medical instruments are not stored, but immediately used. Sterile items from paper bags and kraft bags can be stored for several days.

Dry ovens come with different chambers, which differ in capacity. Large cabinets are designed for surgical and other departments of hospitals or operating rooms. Small dry-heat cabinets are used in outpatient departments or beauty salons and manicure rooms. Manicurists who neglect to sterilize their tools have the potential to introduce bacteria into the client's body. Cabinet operating modes in a manicure room from 30 to 120 minutes at a temperature of 150 to 250 degrees.

    The active agent in this method of sterilization is heated air. Sterilization is carried out in special devices - dry-heat cabinets-sterilizers.
