postheadericon District nurse of the polyclinic

Many polyclinics, as well as some medical units, operate on a territorial-district basis. At the same time, such a specialty as a district nurse in an adult polyclinic or a medical unit is very relevant. Especially in light of the fact that currently priority is given to primary care.

The main goal of the district nurse's activity is to help a doctor working in the same assigned area. The work consists of two main sectors:

  • reception of patients in the clinic;
  • helping patients at home.

The district nurse should be guided in the structure and organization of the work of the medical institution. The service area must be studied both geographically and in terms of the incidence of the population. You should have a clear understanding of the principles of organizing and conducting medical examinations, as well as preventive work with the population. Methods for conducting health education activities among the population, as well as their volume, are carried out by a nurse either in tandem with a doctor or independently.

The work of the district nurse at the reception in the clinic

Before starting the appointment of a local general practitioner, the nurse is obliged to prepare an office: check the availability of forms of necessary documentation, inventory, medical equipment, as well as the serviceability of office equipment.

Availability of outpatient records of patients scheduled for appointments should be provided. In the absence of a patient's medical card, contact the reception and try to find a card as much as possible.

During the appointment, the nurse regulates the flow of patients, calling them by name to the office according to the time of appointment or urgent need for admission.

By order of the doctor, blood pressure, body temperature, anthropometric indicators should be measured. To be referred for research, the nurse fills out the appropriate forms and explains to the patient the procedure for passing and the place of the procedure, explains the methods of preparation.

The results of the studies are pasted into the patient's outpatient card as they arrive at the site.

If necessary, the nurse provides emergency care to the patient under the guidance of a doctor, calls an ambulance team, accompanies to the car or to additional examination rooms.

The nurse monitors the timely visits to the doctor of dispensary patients, if necessary, invites them to an appointment by telephone or during a personal visit. Based on the results of the medical examination, the nurse prepares documentation for the preparation of reports - monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual.

Work on the site

  • Keeping a passport of your site, if necessary - participation in the population census.
  • Carrying out manipulations to patients at home (more often - injections, blood sampling and other biomaterials).
  • Carrying out vaccination activities.
  • The study of the life and working conditions of dispensary patients.
  • Visiting patients to monitor compliance with the regimen and treatment.
  • Active sanitary and educational work among the population of the entrusted area.

As you can see from our article, the local clinic nurse is not an easy job. However, those who have worked at least once in a therapeutic area say that now they are not afraid of any other work or non-standard situation related to medicine.
