postheadericon Certification of nurses

Certification of nurses is mandatory for obtaining a qualification category. The qualification level of a nurse is defined as qualification categories:

  • second;
  • first;
  • highest _.

Certification of nurses for obtaining the second qualification category is possible with work experience in the specialty for a period of 3 years, the first - at least 5 years, the highest - at least 7 years.

For consideration by the attestation commission, the nurse prepares a report on the work done over
the past year. The report is submitted no later than 4 months before the date of attestation.

The attestation commission, when deciding on the assignment of a qualification category to a nurse, is guided by the sequence of assignment of categories. First, the second is assigned, then the first, and then the highest. As an exception, the attestation commission has the right to consider the option of early assignment of a higher category to an employee at the request of the administration.

Every 5 years there is a confirmation or an increase in the qualification category. At present, certification of nurses both for confirmation and for upgrading the category takes place in person, before the certification commission. The previously practiced correspondence confirmation of the existing qualification category has been cancelled. Therefore, if a nurse has a second or first category, it makes sense to raise it, because. the examination will still have to be taken by the commission “eye to eye”.

Good afternoon Please explain where you can be certified for the highest category of a nurse in a nursing home for the elderly and disabled, the city of Klin. There is a certificate of course preparation. The problem is that the Centers we applied to do not certify specialists from the Moscow region, or departmental issues arise, we do not belong to the Ministry of Health, but to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.

    • admin:

      Hello Tatiana.

To be honest, it is surprising that the employees themselves deal with the problem of attestation. First of all, management should be interested in highly qualified personnel. And the point, most likely, is not that you "do not belong there", but in matters of tuition fees.

The administration should look for medical institutions that conduct courses on "Social Assistance to the Disabled and the Elderly and Senile", conclude an agreement with them and organize staff training. It can be institutes, universities and medical colleges - not necessarily a center for advanced training.

I apologize for the lack of specifics, but, I repeat, this question should be addressed to your leadership.

  • Inna:

Hello! I have a problem, how to solve it?! I have a certificate in "Nursing" and the highest category since 2008. In 2008, I was transferred to work in the Department of Ultrasound Diagnostics and Functional Diagnostics, as a nurse (according to an entry in the work book). In 2011, I was sent to the certification cycle "Functional Diagnostics" (specialization). In 2013, my highest category in "Nursing" ends, I want to confirm it, but the head physician insists on certification in the specialty "Functional Diagnostics". This means I will lose money, I will receive a meager salary despite the fact that I work both as a FD office nurse and as an ultrasound office nurse, these are different specialties and I essentially combine them and work as a general nurse or even more as a manipulation room nurse , since in the ultrasound room punctures are carried out under ultrasound control and I fulfill all the requirements of SanPIN to comply with the sanitary and epidemiological regime in the ultrasound room. Question: do I have the right to insist on passing certification in "Nursing" and with confirmation of the highest category?

    • admin:

      Hello Inna.

In general, your management has the right to require you to be certified according to the “Functional Diagnostics” nomenclature. Firstly, this is your main job, and secondly, the money of a medical institution was spent on your training in this specialty.

But! The administration can make concessions and allow you to confirm the highest category, albeit in a different nomenclature. The specialty in both cases is “nursing”. However, it may not go, but force you to undergo certification, starting from the second category. Unfortunately. And it’s not the leadership’s fault, it’s just that now there are more and more stringent requirements from above, and control is tougher.

Try to negotiate with the head physician - maybe there will be an understanding. Did you discuss your problem with the head nurse? Maybe she can help you with something. I sincerely wish you a successful resolution of the situation.

  • Galina:

Hello! I have been working as a massage nurse in a children's clinic for 9 years, I have 1 qualification category (certification in 2010). from the clinic), and this year they tell me that according to the new order for the highest category, at least 10 years of experience is needed. Maybe you know what order the management of our clinic relies on?

    • admin:

      Hello Galina.
In fact, there were no new orders, at least for Russia.
If you live in Ukraine, there, in my opinion, initially for the highest category you need at least 10 years of experience, and this requirement has been in effect since at least 1991. I DO NOT vouch for the accuracy of information about Ukraine. In your case, it would be possible to pass an early recertification if the management would meet your needs. Medical workers are certified once every 5 years, but sometimes, as an exception, ahead of schedule. This is done, but purely at the discretion of the administration. If you are interested in a highly qualified employee who wants to improve his status - the head of the department with a senior nurse draw up a package of documents - an application for an extraordinary certification, a characteristic, and others. All your management knows perfectly well, just, apparently, does not want to do additional work. Therefore, he answers. Cheer up, time goes fast - get your highest category! 🙂

  • Catherine:

hello! I have the highest category in anesthesiology, it ends next year. now I work as a nurse in the admissions department. I want to pass to the highest. but they say I need to have at least 7 years of nursing experience. a person with almost 30 years of experience behind him cannot get the highest category ahead of schedule? It just turns out that every year I pass or confirm the category.

    • admin:

      Hello Ekaterina.
It is not clear why you are certified every year. It all depends on your administration. Try to talk to the head nurse and the manager in an amicable way. Perhaps they are asking the management to allow you to be certified for the highest category in "nursing."

      • Catherine:

Thank you very much! It just turns out that I first passed the highest degree in anesthesiology, and then confirmed it, and now I need to take the highest degree in nursing again (since I transferred to the admissions department) and they explained to me that I should have at least 7 years of experience in nursing. That's why it turns out that I pass almost every year.

        • admin:

Well, they can go towards an employee with such a great experience! At one time I had the first category for SD in surgery, but after moving to another city, firstly, the management retained it, and secondly, I was allowed to be certified in the specialty "SD in Narcology" after 4 years. Wish you luck!

          • Catherine:

Thank you! And one more such question: Is there such a thing that a person having the highest category in anesthesiology no longer handed over to the category, so that she would somehow be re-credited to him in nursing, or does it all depend on the administration ??????

          • admin:

In general, during the transfer, you could, of course, leave the highest category, especially since it is in anesthesiology.
As I described in my case. Now, I don't even know what to do. Maybe, together with the eldest, go to the head nurse about this? Yes, in fact, everything is decided by the administration, their work is like that. 🙂

  • Catherine:

Thank you very much! You helped me a lot.

  • Tatiana:

Good afternoon! Please tell me, I went to work in November 2011 after maternity leave, and the category ended on June 19, 2012. Can I go for recertification of the category assigned to me earlier now.

    • admin:

      Hello Tatiana!

At the time when you were on parental leave, your management, on behalf of the head, should have sent a petition to the personnel department with a request to keep your category without certification for a good reason. If it hasn't been done, let them do it now.

You will be able to be certified after you have worked for 12 months, tk. certification requires a report on the work done for the year. And until the moment of certification itself, your category must be preserved along with the surcharge for it. If, I repeat, the leadership patted in a timely manner or pats now.

Contact the senior, head nurse, if necessary, the head.

  • alex:

Hello, is it possible to get the category externally or just buy

    • admin:

      Good afternoon.
External study is a form of accelerated training.
And about the "can" you ask me for permission or point you to the places?
🙂 I don't work in the area of buying and selling categories.
All certification issues are resolved with management.

  • Vitalik:

hello, I have category 2 from ukraine, i’m moving to russia for permanent residence, is it worth confirming the category in ukraine? or is it different in russia? will it be listed there?

    • admin:

Hello. It is impossible to answer unambiguously. If the deadline has come, you can confirm. However, whether the future employer will take into account the category you have, depends only on him (the employer).

Most likely, it is better to confirm, so that later you do not regret what has not been done. After all, if at your new place of work the existing category is taken into account - excellent. If not, there's nothing you can do about it. But refresh your knowledge.

And what if you do not begin to confirm, and at a new place of work they will ask you - why did you not do this? Or they will report that if the category was confirmed, it would be taken into account.

  • Olga:

Hello! Please tell me, I plan to return to work in March 2013 after maternity leave, and the category ends in August 2013. Can I go for recertification of the category assigned to me earlier in August, or will I lose it, and the second question is if I If I don’t pass recertification, they will completely lower my category or lower it by a step (now the highest category).

    • admin:

      Hello Olga.
As soon as you go to work, raise this question with the head nurse. In general, from March to August there are only 5 months, and you need to write a report on the work done for the year. Only I already wrote above in the commentary that everything is decided at the request of the leadership.

The second question: if suddenly a category is not confirmed on time without a good reason, it is removed altogether. Just don't take it for yourself, you have a good reason. I repeat, everything can be resolved with the head and head nurse, the head of the department, the personnel department.

      • Olga:

tell me if there are any regulatory documents on this matter,
otherwise I work in the medical unit of a special institution and we have neither the head of the department nor the head nurse

        • admin:

Yes, there are a lot of documents. The fact is that each case is solved on the spot. You must be certified somewhere - contact this organization.

I added a link to the order of the Ministry of Health and Social Development at the bottom of the article - I don’t know if it’s useful, but you can download it.

  • Lily:

Good evening. I work as a head nurse in the infectious diseases department, 6 years of experience, I will soon go to specialization in February, there is no category, can I do the work now for the category and pass it in February, and which category can I. Thank you.

    • admin:

      Hello Lilia.
In general, the work should be handed over 4 months before certification. Write and submit faster. If you had a category, it could be removed in November - for the future. Experience allows you to take the 1st category. If in your place they calmly react to the fact that you "jump" through the second - excellent. But now there are very strict requirements - find out more from your main one.

      • Lily:

so what to do, and if I go to take a certificate and hand over the work, then it will be possible to come in 4 months, so it turns out.

        • admin:

You hand over the work to the head nurse or to someone who will review it for you. Not on the day of certification, but in advance. The commission will not only listen to you at the certification itself. They will consider your report, certification sheet, application for category assignment.

Well, in your case, it may turn out the way you think. Contact your superiors, it is easier to solve everything on the spot.

  • Maria:

Hello! Please tell me, I am a dressing nurse in the day hospital department, my work experience in June 2013 will be 14 years, yesterday I passed the 1st category for the category in skating, can I recertify and where can I do it for my specialization. Thank you in advance!

    • admin:

Hello Maria. In theory, you will be certified in 5 years for the highest category. The issue of early certification can only be decided by your management. And no less than a year later, I think, since you have just passed the certification.

  • Maria:

When we recertified yesterday, we were told that if you are not satisfied with the result, then it is possible to recertify, the only reason is that they don’t know where the recertification takes place, they only know that it used to be in Sokolniki, but they don’t know where, and I don’t I can not find

    • admin:

Then you need to make a list of educational institutions conducting certification - medical colleges, postgraduate education centers. And call them personally, I see no other way.

  • Maria:

    thanks for the help

  • Elena:

Hello! Please tell me the general requirements for the report

    • admin:

      Hello, Elena.
The report of a specialist applying for the assignment (confirmation) of a qualification category is a work in which the specialist conducts a detailed comparative analysis of activities over the past year.
The report reflects the volume and quality of one's own activities in accordance with functional responsibilities, the use of rational forms and methods of labor organization, the introduction of new technologies into practice. The progress report can be typed on a typewriter or computer in Times New Roman font, size 14, line spacing 1.5. The pages of the report, including illustrations and appendices, are numbered sequentially. The report must be certified by the head of the institution, sealed and signed by the applicant. The head of the medical facility, who certified the certification sheet and report, as well as the person being certified, are personally responsible for the accuracy of the information provided.

  • Catherine:

    Hello!
I have a problem that even the administration cannot solve .
In 2008 she studied at the cycle "Nursing in Surgery", in 2009 she passed to the 2nd qualification category, and in November 2009 she moved to another position. .
At the end of 2012, they gave me a procedural position and sent me to study, unlearned, but now it turns out that the category may be removed, since the position is different and it takes at least 3 years to pass at least the second one. Is it possible, in the presence of an already existing second category, to pass to the first, but already according to the procedural one.

    • admin:

      Hello Ekaterina.
If you continue to work in the surgical department, albeit a procedural one, you should not remove the category. And in 2014, write a report on the work in the treatment room, and the category can be upgraded, but you have continuous experience. Although, if your administration cannot resolve the issue, it means that “it” simply does not want to. Apparently, they are reinsured.

  • Hope:

Good afternoon. My friend ends the category and specialization in May. She was offered to go to study in September in Krasnoyarsk (we live in Minusinsk) for a month, and she has a small child. Can the management ask her to study with us in June 2014, because the visiting commission will come to us. She has the second category.

  • Maksim:

Good night. I worked as a diet nurse for 2.5 years, then transferred to the position of a ward nurse - I worked for 9 months (institution too). Can I qualify this year for category 2?

  • Ulyanp:

Hello. My category ends in a
prele, but the work is not ready yet. It turns out that the deadline will expire. And now start again from the second category? Now I have the highest.

    • admin:

      Hello Ulyana.
In theory, yes. If the administration is kind, they will accept the report and get certified on time.

  • admin:
