postheadericon Applying bandages. Basic Rules

Each imposition of bandage bandages occurs according to certain rules.

Bandages must be taken of the appropriate width. For bandaging:

  • heads - bandages 6-8 cm wide are used;
  • torso - 10-12 cm;
  • hands, feet, fingers - 4-6 cm.

When applying bandage dressings , the patient should be seated or laid in a comfortable position.

The stages of bandaging include the imposition of:

  • the initial part of the bandage;
  • actual bandages;
  • fixing the bandage.

The beginning and fixing of the dressing is carried out on a healthy area of the skin.

Start bandaging from the peripheral part of the covered area, gradually moving to the center.

The head of the bandage should be in the right hand, the free end (the beginning of the bandage) should be in the left. Bandage dressings are applied by rolling the bandage from left to right. In some cases, the parties change. For example, when bandaging the right side of the chest or head, the bandage is rolled from right to left.

When dressing, the formation of folds and creases is unacceptable; the bandage should roll out easily.

When fixing the bandage, the end of the bandage is cut with scissors, directing their ends away from the patient's body. The bandage is tied and the ends are cut off.

At the end of the bandaging, you need to check:

  • whether the patient's blood circulation in the affected area was disturbed (are there any edema, discoloration of the skin);
  • Is the bandage too loose?

In both cases, the incorrectly applied bandage should be removed and re-bandaged.
