Institutions providing medical care are called medical and preventive. The main types of health care facilities (treatment and preventive institutions):

  • outpatient (institutions where medical and diagnostic assistance is provided to patients who do not need round-the-clock supervision);
  • stationary (institutions providing medical and diagnostic assistance to patients in need of round-the-clock treatment, care and medical-protective regime).

 

Outpatient types of health facilities, in turn, are divided into several types.

 

1. Polyclinic . A medical and preventive institution operating on a territorial-district basis. It includes rooms or departments for the main medical specializations - therapy, surgery, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, x-ray, functional and laboratory diagnostics, procedural and physiotherapy rooms.

 

2. Outpatient clinic - a medical facility providing medical care in small towns. It has a small number of doctors. Has offices: pre-medical reception, electrocardiographic examination, procedural.

 

3. Medical and obstetric station (FAP) - Health care facilities providing medical care by paramedical and obstetrical personnel at the pre-medical level. There is a treatment room. FAPs are organized in settlements with a small population.

 

4. Medical and sanitary part. Health care facilities serving employees of an attached enterprise on a workshop basis. In the MSU, as in polyclinics, there are doctors of the main specialties and specialists in occupational pathology.

 

5. Health center . Included in the medical unit, but located on the territory of the enterprise. The main function is to provide medical care to employees of an enterprise (more often an industrial one) near the workplace. The health center employs paramedical workers with the specialty "General Medicine" (paramedic).

 

6 . A dispensary is a healthcare facility that provides specialized medical care to a specific group of patients. There are psycho-neurological, narcological, dermatovenereological, anti-tuberculosis, oncological, cardio-rheumatological, endocrinological dispensaries. The main function of dispensaries is clinical examination and patronage.

 

7. Trauma center - a health facility that provides emergency care to the population in case of injuries.

 

8. Consultations - women's, children's . Health care facilities that conduct treatment and preventive work for a certain group of the population (women with gynecological pathology, pregnant women, children).

 

Stationary types of health facilities are divided as follows.

 

1. Hospital . Carries out diagnostics and treatment of diseases to patients in need of round-the-clock medical control, care, observation. Hospitals are divided into:

  • single-profile, specializing in the treatment of patients with certain diseases (eg, cardiological);
  • multidisciplinary, having several departments for the treatment and diagnosis of various diseases (therapy, surgery, eye, ENT, and other departments).

By coverage of served territories:

  • district (CRH);
  • urban;
  • regional (regional);
  • republican.

 

2. Clinic - health care facility, in which, in addition to medical and diagnostic work, the following activities are carried out:

  • teaching (training);
  • research.

The clinics have a staff of highly professional medical personnel and are equipped with modern equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

 

3 . Hospital - specialized medical facilities for the provision of medical and diagnostic assistance to military personnel, veterans and disabled war veterans who need round-the-clock medical supervision and treatment. Allocate hospitals:

  • central;
  • types of armed forces;
  • district;
  • garrison.

In wartime, hospitals are formed:

  • mobile field;
  • evacuation;
  • rear.

 

4. Sanatoriums and dispensaries - resort health facilities that provide assistance to patients at the stage of aftercare. Work on a stationary basis. They combine climatological, balneological, physiotherapeutic and other methods that contribute to the speedy recovery of the patient's ability to work.

Dispensaries are organized at large enterprises in a forested area not far from the settlement, sanatoriums - in resort areas.

 

5. Maternity hospitals are healthcare facilities that specialize in providing medical care for obstetrics.
