Sequencing
Change of bed linen in the longitudinal way
- We are preparing a bag for collecting dirty laundry.
- We wash our hands, put on gloves.
- We prepare a clean sheet by rolling it to the middle in the longitudinal direction.
- Remove pillows from under the patient's head.
- Carefully turn the patient on their side closer to the edge of the bed.
- We roll up the dirty sheet to the middle of the bed in the longitudinal direction.
- We spread a clean sheet on the vacated part of the bed with a roller towards the patient.
- Carefully turn the patient on the other side, laying on a clean sheet.
- We remove the dirty sheet in a bag for collecting dirty linen.
- We spread a clean sheet on the bed and fill its edges under the mattress.
- We put the patient in the starting position.
- We change pillowcases and duvet covers.
- We put the pillows on the bed, raising the patient's head.
- Cover the patient with a blanket.
- We remove the bag with dirty linen in the dirty linen room.
- Remove gloves, immerse them in a container with disinfectant, wash your hands.
Change of bed linen in a transverse way
- Preparing a bag for dirty laundry.
- We wash our hands, put on gloves.
- We prepare a clean sheet by rolling it to the middle in the transverse direction.
- We raise the head and upper body of the patient, remove the pillows from under his head.
- We roll up the dirty sheet from the side of the headboard in the transverse direction to the middle of the bed.
- We spread a clean sheet on the vacated part of the bed with a roller towards the patient.
- We change pillowcases, put pillows under the patient's head.
- Raise the lower part of the patient's torso and legs, supporting him in the lumbar region.
- We remove the dirty sheet in the prepared bag.
- We spread a clean sheet, tucking its edges under the mattress.
- Place the patient in a comfortable position.
- We change the duvet cover, cover the patient with a blanket.
- We remove the bag with the dirty bag in a special room.
- Remove gloves, immerse them in a container with disinfectant, wash your hands.
Change of underwear
- Preparing a bag for dirty laundry.
- We wash our hands, put on gloves.
- We lift the upper part of the patient's torso and roll up the dirty shirt from the sacrum to the back of the head, lay the patient down.
- Raise the patient's arms to the head and move the shirt over the patient's neck, head and arms. If one hand is damaged, remove dirty linen from a healthy hand, then from a sick one.
- We remove the dirty shirt in the prepared bag.
- We put a clean shirt on the patient's hands and, lifting them to the head, we transfer the shirt over the patient's head. In case of damage to one hand: we put on clean linen first on the sore hand, then on the healthy one.
- We lift the lower part of the patient's torso and straighten the shirt from the back of the head to the sacrum.
- We put the patient in a comfortable position, cover with a blanket.
- Remove gloves, immerse them in a container with disinfectant, wash your hands.
It is obvious that the change of underwear and bed linen will be carried out faster and more efficiently if 2 health workers are involved in the manipulation.
