The therapeutic effect of medical cups is based on increased blood and lymph circulation in organs and tissues. The purpose of the procedure is the resorption of inflammatory processes, as well as the reduction of muscle pain.

The technique of setting cans requires a certain skill, composure and caution.

Indications for setting medical jars:

  • diseases of the upper respiratory tract;
  • neuralgia, myositis;
  • inflammatory diseases of the nerve trunks;
  • congestion in the chest organs.

Contraindications to the use of cans

  • general exhaustion;
  • diseases and damage to the skin, moles in the places where cans are placed;
  • malignant neoplasms;
  • pulmonary bleeding;
  • fever (body temperature above 38 degrees);
  • active form of tuberculosis;
  • increased skin sensitivity;
  • age up to 5 years.

Before the procedure, we prepare: a tray with medical jars (10-20 pieces), petroleum jelly, 70% ethyl alcohol (in a glass container with a ground-in lid), a wick in the form of a forceps with tightly wound cotton wool, matches, a container of water, a spatula, gauze napkins, towels, gloves, containers with disinfectant.

Places for placing cans:

  • posterior surface of the chest - subscapular, suprascapular region, excluding the region of the spine;
  • anterior surface of the chest, excluding the region of the heart;
  • lateral surfaces of the chest;
  • lumbar region, excluding the projection of the kidneys.

Canning technique

  • We explain to the patient the meaning and course of the procedure.
  • We wash our hands and put on gloves.
  • We check the integrity of medical jars.
  • We install a tray with cans and everything you need near the patient's bed.
  • We lay the patient on his stomach, asking him to release the upper part of the body from clothing.
  • We examine the patient's skin.
  • Apply Vaseline to the desired area of ​​the patient's body with a thin layer of a napkin.
  • Wet the wick with alcohol, squeeze the excess alcohol on the edge of the bottle, and then shake it to the side to avoid the formation of drops.
  • Close the vial with alcohol and set it aside.
  • We light the wick.
  • We take the medical jar in the hand opposite to the one in which we hold the wick.
  • We bring a burning wick into the middle of the jar, without touching its edges, for 1-2 seconds.
  • We remove the wick from the jar and quickly apply it tightly to the patient's skin.
  • Similarly, we put the required number of cans at a distance of 1-2 cm from one another.
  • We check how tightly the cans are attached by running our hand over them.
  • Cover the patient with a towel, then with a blanket.
  • After 15 minutes, remove the banks one at a time. Holding the skin with your finger at the edge of the jar, tilt it in the opposite direction.
  • We wipe the patient's skin in the places where the jars are placed with a napkin.
  • We cover the patient and leave him in bed for 1-2 hours.
  • We place all the tools and waste material in a container with a disinfectant solution.

Remove gloves, dip them in a container of disinfectant and wash your hands.

Complications after cupping:

  • skin burns when drops of burning alcohol get on the patient's skin and when the edges of the cans overheat.
