Zero diet, table number 0 or diet 0 is intended for feeding patients in the postoperative period with interventions on the organs of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT). Another indication for a zero diet is a state of consciousness that accompanies reduced reactivity. This is possible with cerebrovascular accidents, craniocerebral injuries, feverish conditions.

Actually diet number 0 (or diet number 0a)

Food that allows diet 0, consists of liquid and light mucous, jelly-like dishes. Whole milk, pureed products are prohibited. Allowed: weak sweet tea, jelly and jelly from berries and fruits, freshly squeezed juices diluted with water, weak broths, cereal decoctions. Food is given to the patient in small quantities, often, during the day and night too. The total amount of food consumed per day with a zero diet is 2 liters. Caloric content - from 750 to 1020 kcal per day. Table No. 0 is appointed for no more than three days.

Diet number 0b (aka diet number 1a)

It is prescribed after following the zero diet "a", with gastrointestinal bleeding, exacerbations of gastritis with increased secretion and burns of the esophagus. The goal of the diet is to spare the digestive tract as much as possible by eliminating foods that can cause chemical, thermal or mechanical irritation.

Substances that stimulate the secretory activity of the stomach are excluded. Food is given in liquid and semi-liquid form. At the same time, the amount of table salt is limited. When compiling the diet, they proceed from the calculation of 2000 kcal per day. Light steam soufflés from meat and fish are allowed.

Diet No. 0b (1a) involves the patient eating every 2-3 hours, in small portions. At night, cream or whole milk is offered.

Diet number 0c (aka - 1b)

The indications and purpose of this diet are similar to those of the 0b (or 1a) diet. The general characteristics also coincide, but crackers from white bread, dry biscuit, and mashed cottage cheese from dairy cuisine are added to the permitted products. The number of steamed fish and meat dishes is expanding. Caloric content reaches 2600 kcal per day.
