As a science, modern nursing (SN) relies on practically proven knowledge in the following areas:

  • medicine;

  • cultural studies;
  • philosophy and theory of nursing;
  • nursing pedagogy;
  • leadership in the SD;
  • management in the SD;
  • marketing in SD;
  • communication in SD.

 

As an art, modern nursing consists in skills:

  • correctly and timely apply professional knowledge and skills in practice;
  • communicate with the patient and his relatives delicately, but persistently if necessary (explain the need for his actions performed for the benefit of the patient);
  • use a mindset that is geared towards the pursuit of recovery and a healthy lifestyle.

 

The main goal of nursing is the implementation of the nursing process - the scientific method of nursing practice. The nursing process is by defining:

  • the situation in which the nurse and the patient are;
  • problems associated with this situation;
  • finding a solution to these problems by developing a nursing care plan that is acceptable to both parties.
